Monterey Bay Aquarium Special Events

Monterey Bay Aquarium Shark EventFor the first three months of this year, the Monterey Bay Aquarium will be having a series of special events that will benefit its member card holders and fascinating exhibits for all. Last month, the Aquarium held members’ night (Gray Whale edition). It is a special extension of the Aquarium’s hours held exclusively for dedicated members of the world famousMonterey attraction. They are having another this month on the last Saturday and Sunday of February, but this one is for sharks! In addition they have a new behind-the-scenes tour of the Jellies. They show you the life cycle of these mysterious floating wisps and they even show you where they get the ones that are behind the glass! Some of our guests have stayed with us solely to attend these events and we are happy to accommodate them!

If you have already visited the aquarium and want a closer look at theMontereyBaywe also offer kayaking packages to our guests that allow a more natural visit to the kelp beds or theElkhornslough’s sea otter reserve. Just let us know when you want to paddle away and we will take of the rest! For a more relaxing experience, try our Sunset beach bonfire package and you can observe the ocean from a safer distance as the twilight sun vanishes into its own oceanic reflection.

It always seems like there is not enough time when you are here in Monterey. So why not go all out and visit our Monterey bed and breakfast and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The sheer number of adventure options can be overwhelming. Here at our award-winning bed and breakfast we can help you narrow it down. Our knowledgeable innkeepers are adept at planning day trips, local excursions, and meals that will fit your style of holiday. If you are coming to Monterey Peninsula and need help with an itinerary, call us at the Old Monterey Inn, we will be glad to help!

Romance and Christmas Magic Found at our Monterey Bed and Breakfast!

Romance at our Monterey Bed and BreakfastA few months ago we at the Old Monterey Inn posted a blog about the cutest couple who had just gotten engaged at our romantic Monterey Bed and Breakfast. This past week, we were honored to have them return to enjoy a luxurious Honeymoon in the very same room that they had gotten engaged in, the Brighstone Suite at our Monterey Bay Bed and Breakfast. The newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Joel and Paula Hamilton, were treated to our fabulous Ultimate Luxury Package, which includes an unforgettable limousine driven Wine Tour through the beautiful Carmel Valley, a romantic Couples Massage by firelight in our elegant Spa Room, fantastic dining packages, and more! I believe their Honeymoon Getaway was a huge success, and a memorable event for the new couple. We will certainly look forward to seeing them on an anniversary in the years to come!

I also would like to thank everyone who made our “Christmas at the Inns” event such a wonderful success. Our Monterey Bed and Breakfast is beautifully decorated for the holidays, and we received innumerable compliments on the decorations, ambiance created by the elegant Christmas songs played by Mr. Michael Martinez (the celebrated pianist from the Big Sur Marathon for you runners out there!), and of course, our freshly baked cookies! With the holiday decorations in place, and our warm fireplaces awaiting you, this is the perfect time to get away from your holiday stress, and enjoy a little pampering at the Old Monterey Inn.

We are currently offering our lowest seasonal rates, and we would love to have you keep us company this winter! Please give us a call or check our website for availability.

Don’t forget what a great present it would be for the people on your list to receive a Gift Certificate from the Old Monterey Inn!! We will take good care of them, we promise!!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season,

Katy

Our Monterey Bed and Breakfast Welcomes International Guests

Enjoying Breakfast

One of my favorite parts of the day is breakfast time at the Monterey bed and breakfast. The dining room is an elegant backdrop for the fantastic smells wafting from the kitchen. People are relaxing next to the crackling fireplace and getting to know each other while anticipating the next course to be served!

Conversations are always interesting, and I find it amazing how quickly the guests at our Monterey bed and breakfast find common interests to discuss. Especially noticeable, the other morning I scanned the happy faces at the table, and I realized we were fortunate enough to have five different countries represented over our Orange Blossom French Toast. While I served our ‘French Toast’ creation to the family from Paris (I was relieved when they loved it), I realized that the happy discussion among the guests involved people from France, Germany, Australia, Sweden, and the United States. During that same week, we also hosted folks from England, Ireland, and Brazil! They were talking about all kinds of things: travel, food and wine, education, and sports!

Summer always brings a large number of international travelers to the Monterey Peninsula, and we feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to introduce our international guests, and all of our guests to the fabulous part of the world we live in!

New Jellies at the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

Monterey bed and breakfastGreetings! We just heard some news from the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
Being one of the most popular attractions near our romantic getaway in CA, the Monterey Bay Aquarium should be considered a must see during your next visit to the Monterey Peninsula.
Our guests at our Monterey bed and breakfast continue to return from their aquarium experiences raving about the variety of sea life and the beautiful displays. The folks at the Monterey Bay aquarium continue to outdo themselves as they have just announced the addition of the “Crown Jellies” to the already fabulous Jellies Experience.
Being the first aquarium in the world to display these amazing animals, we feel very fortunate that the aquarium is just a few short miles from our Monterey luxury B & B. Also during your visit, make sure you meet Abby the sea otter and her playful friends!
The Old Monterey Inn Bed and Breakfast has two-day VIP passes for sale, no waiting in line! Monterey Bay Aquarium is open from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm (8 pm on weekends) during the summer. See you there!

Trip Advisor Award for the Old Monterey Inn!

Romantic getaway in MontereyGreetings!

Normally we enjoy blogging about local Monterey attractions and events near our romantic Monterey getaway, but today we are going to take a little time to do some shameless bragging about our beautiful Monterey Bed and Breakfast! Last week we received a notification from Trip Advisor that we have received their prestigious “Certificate of Excellence”!  The comments preceding the award from trip advisor read:

Our travelers consistently commend your property with the highest praise, and we recognize your 5 rating as an exceptional achievement.

Only the very best in the business are awarded the Certificate of Excellence”

We are quite proud of our award, and feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful variety of guests who take the time to share their comments on Trip Advisor and other similar sites. Thank you! As a matter of fact, our current Trip Advisor ranking has us rated number one, not only in Monterey, but also on the entire Monterey Peninsula, which includes Carmel and Pacific Grove! Hurray!

Our innkeepers take these comments and suggestions very seriously, and again we really appreciate the feedback. Keep those comments coming!!

Hope to see you all soon at Old Monterey Inn, our romantic Monterey getaway!

Happy Birthday Monterey!

Monterey Peninsula b&bThis weekend will mark the 242nd birthday of the wonderful City of Monterey! Our beautiful city is actually one of the most historic locations in California; Colton Hall is where the State of California was born. Monterey served as the Capital City under both the Spanish and Mexican flag from 1777 to 1846. The U.S. flag was ultimately raised over California at the Customs House next to famous Fisherman’s Wharf, less than a mile from our Monterey bed and breakfast! The city of Monterey boasts California’s first theatre, public building, public library, publicly funded school, printing press, and newspaper! At our Monterey Peninsula B&B we offer brochures to a self-guided walking tour called the Path of History, which starts just down the street. The California State Park system also offers fully guided tours of these same attractions. For tour schedules please call (831) 649-7118.

We would love to share more information with you! Come visit us soon at our romantic Monterey bed and breakfast!
