Christmas in Monterey

Wintertime in Monterey might be everything you’ve ever dreamed of—without the snow!

At our Monterey Bed and Breakfast you can enjoy fireside wine and hors d’oeuvres, a soak in the Jacuzzi tub, a relaxing couples massage in our on-site spa room, and a warm, delicious two-course gourmet breakfast in the morning.  You’ll stay warm and cozy!

Throw on a jacket and enjoy all that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer holiday travelers.  Here are a few things we think are particularly wonderful:

The Monterey Peninsula is home to the world-famous Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, and on December 11, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., it opens its door to cyclists.  Rent a bike from any of the bike stores here on the Peninsula, and then enjoy 300-foot climbs and awe-inspiring descents on the famous raceway!  It’ll be exhausting and fun and very memorable.  Check out more information here:

The Carmel Valley Airfield puts on a wonderful annual event: Santa’s Fly-In!  What is that you ask? Well, Santa and Mrs. Claus are helicoptered in, and walk through the crowd to a sleigh pulled by reindeer!  Santa and his sleigh participate in the parade through the Carmel Valley Village.  It’s a quirky, fun-filled event and will put you and your travel companion alongside locals as we enjoy this 55-year old tradition!  More information can be found by visiting:

If the Twilight Cycling was up your alley but you’re particular about your bike and won’t be travelling with one, there is another active event on the Monterey Peninsula for the entire month of December: outdoor ice-skating!  That’s right, an outside rink in California!  Right in the heart of historic Monterey, the holiday ice rink will give you an opportunity to experience the chill and charm of the wintertime months, and give you an excuse to enjoy hot cocoa in front of your own fireplace when you return to our bed and breakfast in Monterey!  For more information, visit:

A final wintertime event that we are excited about is the Dance Kids performance of the Nutcracker at the Sunset Center in neighboring Carmel.  The stage is filled with over 150 pre-professional dancers, many of whom are already being scouted by dance academies in San Francisco and New York.  This event is so popular, in fact, that tickets are likely to sell out.  The show is on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14.  Visit for more information and a few videos of Dance Kids’ past performances!

Stay tuned for updates on more of our favorite happenings on the Monterey Peninsula.  We look forward to welcoming you to our elegant, cozy, and romantic Monterey Inn and giving you lots of suggestions to help make your holiday season special!
