Monterey, Ca. is home to many wonderful annual events celebrating art, food and music but perhaps none is more anticipated than the 57th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival; September 19-21, 2014.
With over 500 artists on 8 stages spread over 3 days, it attracts all the top names in jazz and big band, boasts several inspiring and original art exhibits and provides educational opportunities through clinics and seminars throughout the weekend.
Held every September at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center since its founding in 1958, it is an easy 10 minute drive from our top rated Monterey bed and breakfast and is an awesome way to simply indulge in fine food and music as happy crowds gather to dance and sing a-long, enjoying what has been voted as ”the best jazz festival in the world” by readers of Jazz Times Magazine.
Monterey weather can be a bit cooler on September evenings so a warm sweater and a hot dish such as Monterey’s famous fresh calamari could be just the pairing you need as you stroll down the thoroughfare, listening to some of the best live jazz you’ll find anywhere.
Gates open at 6pm on Friday, 11:30am Saturday and Sunday. Non-stop, live music entertainment will continue until approximately midnight. More information and tickets can be found at www.montereyjazzfestival.org
Start your morning with a gourmet Old Monterey Inn breakfast; then you enjoy a leisurely stroll through our flower gardens and the traditional English-style hedge garden, maybe even catching a glimpse of a deer or a buck. Late morning, you wander down to the Jazz Festival and enjoy a day of exquisite live music and afterwards, perhaps a fantastic dinner at one of our local gourmet restaurants. At night you relax in your room at the Old Monterey Inn, nestle up close to your own personal fireplace and relive the magic of the day.
